SOMALI VS ZAMBIA :MATCH PREAMBLE

SOMALI faces Zambia this afternoon after being thrashed 3-0 by the host Tanzania that was recovering from a poor start against the Zambian Flames. Hosts Tanzania overcame their 1-0 opening game loss to Zambia on Sunday, defeating Somalia 3-0 on Tuesday in a Group A match.
Kilimanjaro Stars produced a sterling display to deliver their first win in emphatic style and in the process ensured that Somalia would become the first team to exit the competition after losing two matches.
The result means that Tanzania stay third in the group, a point behind second placed Zambia and leaders Burundi who drew 0-0 in the other Group A encounter.

Tanzania now rest third in their group on three points.
The Tanzanian Coach adds that the loss means that they have to win their remaining two matches, “We have to make sure we beat Somalia and Burundi because we cannot afford to even draw. Only six points will do for us in the next two matches.”
For Zambia, it was a satisfying start to the two week event, “We knew it would be a tough match because Tanzania is a good team but we are happy that we have three points, it’s the start we wanted.” Said Coach Dario Bonetti.
Three Zambian players limped off with injuries but Bonetti is not too bothered, “we have a big squad of players who despite being young, are ready and capable so I will just utilize my squad”.
The group’s other match pitting Somalia and Burundi did not kick off because the Somali team was unable to arrive in Tanzania on time after difficulties with connecting flights. The match will now take place on Sunday at Karume Stadium. The Ocean Stars will be playing for honour having been the first team to march out of the regional championship.
