Robi Morro- Tanzania Fashion Designer, Robi Morro is the epitome of afro-centric fashion in
Tanzania. Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Robi was raised by a stylish
mother who made their own clothes. This rich background inspired her to
begin her own clothing line in 2006, opening her own boutique at Dar es
Salaam's The Slipway in 2008. Mapozi Design's boutique attracts all who
desire high quality modern designs with an afro-centric twist. Since the conception of Mapozi Designs, Robi Morro has exhibited and showcased her
designs extensively, both nationally and internationally.
Mapozi Designs utilizes local Khanga and Kitenge fabrics in a unique way,
fusing contemporary fashion with traditional Tanzanian prints. She
combines these vibrant fabrics with other materials such as satin, silk,
lace, linen, denim and cotton. Mapozi Design's clothing ranges from
evening and day dresses, pants, and casual tops, to traditional skirts and
blouses. The Afro-centric look is back in style and Robi Morro provides a
fashionable outlet for the many modern African women who are looking to
express their roots. Her designs are modern and hip and reflect the
stylish nature of Robi Morro herself, yet they encourage Tanzanian women
