Da’fire Arts is well known in the Tanzanian fashion industry as the pioneer brand name in the design and manufacture of one of kind Afro-chic jewellery. The brand was formed almost 5 years ago by Joy Kemibaro, whose passion for jewellery making steered her to study both Beadwork and Wirework in South Africa a few years ago in order to enhance her talents.
The exclusive Da’fire Arts pieces are made from a combination of both beads and metal using locally available materials including wooden beads and environmentally friendly materials like recycled glass, and seeds. Other materials used include semi-precious stones like malachite and haematite.
Over the last 5 years, Da’fire Arts has participated in 3 Makutano Arts & Crafts fairs, been featured in the local dailies and had a spread and feature in Flare Magazine. Da’fire Arts has also featured in 3 fashion shows in collaboration with several well known Tanzanian designers.
Da’fire Arts recently set up a permanent ultra-modern jewellery display platform at The Makutano House in Dar es Salaam to provide a point to cater for the market demand for Afro-chic jewellery in Tanzania.
In the next 5 years, Joy intends to steer the brand by increasing Da’fire Arts’ presence within East Africa and globally through the use of the internet.
